About Our Club

Does “Hardhats” conjure visions of a roomful of construction guys? While we do have one or two members in construction, we are from just about every walk of life. Members range from beginning speakers to seasoned professionals and we are all dedicated to supporting each other’s success in a fun and friendly environment. Active since 1974, Hardhats is one of the top-ranked clubs in San Diego, having earned the coveted “Presidents Distinguished” award nearly every year.

1) Visit Our Club

Maybe you’ve been to a Toastmasters meeting at another club or you’re about to visit your very first meeting. Either way, we welcome you with open arms. You may join us in-person at the Palisades Presbyterian Church or virtually on Zoom (see details below). Excepting certain holidays, we meet every Friday starting promptly at 7:00 am and finishing at 8:30 am Pacific Time. It’s best to arrive at least 10 minutes early to meet some of our members – things move quickly once we get started! Guests attend the meeting for free (except breakfast, should you order it). We encourage you to visit us at least three times (especially if you are new to Toastmasters) before committing to membership. We look forward to meeting you!

2) Submit Your Application

Once you’ve visited and decided that Hardhats is a good fit for you, simply complete an application and submit your initial dues. Dues total $9 per month (including Toastmasters International and Club dues) and are paid every six months. Any food you order at Denny’s during the meeting is at your expense.

3) Induction Into Hardhats Toastmasters

Once you’ve applied and paid your Toastmasters dues, on your next meeting you’ll go through a very brief induction ceremony where we welcome you into the club and you begin your Toastmasters journey!
